NOTDEC 4000

Martin Haywood's Challenge

In January 2016, Martin was 50. At that point, he could have just bought a Harley.

In May 1998, however, he had been diagnosed with testicular cancer; and reaching 50 was a major milestone.  He wanted to mark it with something more special than exhaust fumes.

He needed a real challenge — one that would stretch him AND give him the chance to put something back into life.

So Martin decided to try to raise money for the children at NOTDEC.

The Inspiration

The words of a NOTDEC child tugged at Martin's heart-strings.

Actions speak louder than words — though less often.  So Martin resolved to DO something.

The NOTDEC 4000 Challenge

Martin's Big Idea

NOTDEC 's children's centre in Uganda is 4,000 "crow flies" miles from NOTDEC UK's base (and Martin's home) in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

Martin decided to cycle 4,000 miles in the UK to raise £10,000 for the kids at NOTDEC.

All this in just 10 weeks — and whilst holding down a full-time job!

Martin Challenges You — Even Now!

Of course, Martin would have got nowhere if no-one had sponsored him.  Fortunately, lots of people did; and he's raised over £8,300,

But it's not too late for you to help — if you'd like to.  His target is £10,000.

You don't need to cycle 4,000 miles: Martin has done that for you!
