NOTDEC received donations to improve the home of Mordecai, a 10-year-old child, who previously lived at NOTDEC, because his mother died shortly after his birth.
He now attends a special boarding school, as he suffers from epilepsy and struggles with walking, due to an issue with his legs.In the school holidays helives with his grandparentswho are subsistence farmers, they live high in the mountains, with no vehicle access to their property.Their home was very basic with a temporary toilet that wasn’t easily accessible.
Improvements have been made to the property which include constructing an accessible toilet, a new roof with water collection, a solar installation, which powers four lights and a socket to charge a mobile phone, and finally doors, windows and plastering. This has provided an improved standard of living, for Mordecai and his family.
